Neon Vortex is simple to pick up but challenging to master. Here is everything you need to know about controls, scoring, and strategy.

The Basics

One Control, Infinite Challenge

Your energy orb automatically orbits around a cosmic vortex. The only control you have is the ability to reverse your orbit direction — tap, click, or press Space. Neon barriers close in from the edges, each with a single gap. Time your direction changes to align with the gap and pass through safely.

The game starts at a comfortable speed, but it accelerates as your score increases. The higher you go, the faster your orb moves and the more frequently barriers appear. Survival depends entirely on your reflexes and timing.

Controls

How to Control Your Orb

Every input does the same thing — reverse your orbit direction. Choose whichever method is most comfortable for you.

Click / Tap

Click anywhere on the game canvas with your mouse, or tap anywhere on the screen on a mobile device. This is the primary control method.

Spacebar

Press the Space key on your keyboard to reverse direction. This is ideal for desktop players who prefer keyboard controls over mouse clicks.

Arrow Keys

Press the Up, Left, or Right arrow key to reverse direction. Any arrow key works — choose whichever feels most natural during fast gameplay.

Mobile Touch

On phones and tablets, simply tap anywhere on the screen. The game is designed to be fully playable with one finger in portrait or landscape mode.

Scoring

How Scoring Works

Points are earned by dodging barriers and collecting energy fragments. Your high score is saved automatically.

Score Tracking

Your current score is displayed at the top of the game screen during gameplay. When the game ends, you see both your run score and your all-time high score.

High scores are saved locally in your browser using standard local storage. No account or sign-up is needed — your score persists automatically between visits.

Tips to Survive Longer

Reverse Early

Start your direction change before the barrier reaches your orbit. Your orb needs time to reach the gap position.

Watch the Gap

Focus on where the gap is positioned in each incoming barrier. The golden dots at the gap edges help you spot it quickly.

Grab Fragments

Golden energy fragments appear on your orbit ring. Collecting them is worth 3 points each — but only go for them if the path is safe.

Stay Calm at Speed

The game accelerates as your score rises. Do not panic — keep your taps deliberate and your timing consistent even at higher speeds.
